巩俐的不满源于两岸电影人在第55届金马奖颁奖礼上致词时的“国家认同”差异。36岁的台湾导演傅榆，以拍摄2014年台湾“太阳花学运”的纪录片《我们的青春，在台湾》夺得金马奖最佳纪录片奖。她在登台领奖时，突然有感而发说出：“希望我们的国家可以被当成一个真正独立的个体来看待，这是我身为一个台湾人最大的愿望。”
傅榆说出这番话时，难掩情绪激动，台下的群众则给予掌声回应，同时也让金马奖现场出现些许火药味。
该言论随后遭到中国大陆艺人的回击。来自内蒙古的老演员涂们在颁奖时刻意强调：“特别荣幸再次来到‘中国台湾’金马奖颁奖，我感到了两岸一家亲。”
有人则试图平息不和。“影帝”徐峥在获奖时大喊：“这里是一个专业的殿堂，我相信中国电影一定会越来越好！” 更多人用“巩俐式”的沉默来表示不满——据一位现场人员称，除了导演娄烨外，其他中国大陆电影人和艺人一齐缺席了颁奖典礼结束后的惜别餐会。不少中国艺人还在新浪微博发起“中国，一点也不能少”为主题、含有台湾在内的中国疆域贴图，发帖者甚至包括深陷逃税丑闻的范冰冰。
台湾艺人少有回应，但官员们却热烈声援。台湾文化部长郑丽君，会后通过脸书表示“台湾是亚洲最自由、民主、多元、热情的国家”。随后又在文末补充“但请记得：这里是台湾，不是‘中国台湾’”，再度引发两岸网民的留言支持与攻击。
事实上，这次金马奖的“国家认同风波”，正逢台湾地方选举前一周，也让选前的台湾再度讨论“中国大陆政治因素介入”议题。英国广播公司（BBC）一篇评论认为，傅榆在说那番感言之前，可能也受到了当时舆论环境的影响，不经意间让金马奖被政治裹挟，让这场两岸三地最早举办的电影奖项彻底失焦。
这是一个遗憾。其实，在两岸关系停滞的当下，已经很难看到这种气氛和乐的两岸三地人士共聚一堂的场合。但某些人迫切希望挑起统独争议以凝聚选民，金马奖台独风波恰好制造契机。台湾国际战略学会理事长、淡江大学兼任教授王昆义接受采访时就表示，傅榆在颁奖礼的公开平台，面对大陆演艺界人士发表台独言论，缺乏对两岸政治的敏感度；而民进党向来喜欢在选举中打“统独牌”凝聚台独支持者，相关人士事后推波助澜，包括郑丽君的言论，背后有选举操作的意味。

28年前，香港才子黄霑的一首《沧海一声笑》获得了当年金马奖的最佳电影插曲，那句“沧海一声笑，滔滔两岸潮”，其实是来自于他学生时代一篇论文的题目，呼吁海峡两岸一笑泯恩仇，这是黄霑作为一个香港年轻人为两岸中国人写下的祝愿。
或许，只有越来越多的人拥有像那个叫黄霑的年轻人一样的胸襟的时候，金马奖才有可能回归艺术，远离政治，不再出现类似的纷争。
